CARD Blue Lenten Roses

Here is another card I made a while back using Lenten Roses Pre-coloured set.

Some tips and ideas:

- to give your flowers some sparkle and dimension, try lightly outlining the flowers with a clear glitter stardust pen then brush some glossy or matte gel medium on the flower having your brushstrokes follow the directions of the petals.  Looks so ethereal and pretty! The glitter pen mixes in a bit with the gel medium.

- for the embossed background, I painted the paper with a blue craft acrylic paint and sanded the embossed edges.  I also very lightly kissed  distressed embossing with a gold ink pad.  OK be warned though, it seems easier to paint the paper before running through the cuttlebug BUT I remember having to pick a few blue bits off my embossing folder when I was done LOL!

- the lighter blue background  is smudged chalks and pebbles pearlescent chalks.

Have a great week!  I will be putting my nose to the grindstone drawing and going shopping for back to school supplies... eek!  The summer went so fast :O

Gel mediums can be found in most art supply stores in acrylic mediums or paints. It might be found at craft stores like Michael's. Alternative medium to use might be Inkssentials Matte Accents or mod podge type glue ( brush it on) or even acrylic varnish. Gel medium will hold the brush strokes the best though.

I am pretty sure all the the products I mentioned will go over copics.

Oh My Tracey, what a stunning card. I never tried painting the embossed papers before. I may have to give this a try. Thanks for the great tips!
