Hey all!  It's time for another Blog Hop :)  We are calling it the Fred She Said Fabulous Fall Blog Hop.  We were to use a Fall Colour Combo -  any 2  or more colours from Red, Green, Yellow, Orange or Gold ... and sky blue... I can`t picture fall without the leaves being against a lovely sky blue, the project did NOT have to be a fall theme ;)  I am so excited to see what the DT have come up with!

I used Cardinal & Daisies Pre-Coloured Set and lots of distress ink and some crackle accents.  I went a bit coo coo with the black pearl string LOL!

New Stuff... Blue Jays & Cardinals

There are some new things in the STORE :)

I am continuing with a Flying Bird Series, first there were the Flying Winter Birds, then Wee Hummingbird & Petunias... well now we have:

Blue Jay & Raspberries

 ... also Black Raspberries ;)

AND

Cardinal & Daisies 

( Yellow & White Daisies, or colour however you like, coneflowers, black-eyed Susans... etc )

I am planning more, I am trying for one cute little bird with a coordinationg floral or botanical.

CARD: Hollyhocks

Hi All!

In case anyone purchases from the STORE and has any difficulties downloading - Fred will be away Saturday and Sunday ( Sept 10-11 ) and will be without internet access.  If you have any questions or problems, please email me and I will help you first thing Monday ;)  We are heading to Toronto to go to the Zoo and see the sights ... just realized the Toronto International Film Festival ( The Tiff. ) is going on!  Maybe we will go star chasing... not LOL!

Here is a card I recently made.  I used a print of the WHITE coloured Hollyhocks.  What I did was tint the flowers by going over them with pencils ( this one prismacolor process red and the creamy coloured flowers-  a tiny bit of jasmine - you could do the same thing with copics etc.) and sponging the edges of the oval with antique linen distress ink .  The background is alcohol inked glossy paper that has been embossed.

I have been trying to draw and colour some cute little birds.  Need to make a few more  before they are ready for prime-time ;)   ... maybe some berry branches or florals to go with them.  ... eventually LOL...

CARD Blue Lenten Roses

Here is another card I made a while back using Lenten Roses Pre-coloured set.

Some tips and ideas:

- to give your flowers some sparkle and dimension, try lightly outlining the flowers with a clear glitter stardust pen then brush some glossy or matte gel medium on the flower having your brushstrokes follow the directions of the petals.  Looks so ethereal and pretty! The glitter pen mixes in a bit with the gel medium.

- for the embossed background, I painted the paper with a blue craft acrylic paint and sanded the embossed edges.  I also very lightly kissed  distressed embossing with a gold ink pad.  OK be warned though, it seems easier to paint the paper before running through the cuttlebug BUT I remember having to pick a few blue bits off my embossing folder when I was done LOL!

- the lighter blue background  is smudged chalks and pebbles pearlescent chalks.

CARD Red Hollyhocks

Made a card today... 

This card uses the new Hollyhocks Coloured Set in RED printed on matte photo paper.
I don't know, but this muted robin's egg blue and red have to be one of my favourite colour combos.  I put glaze pen over the flowers for some sheen.  I have had this Martha punch around the page ( Vintage Floral) sitting on my shelve still packaged like since forever... cracked her open... I think I will like this punch VERY much.

CARD Sentimental for Emma

Hi all! ... another card.  This was Emma's birthday card :) 

I used the Sentimental Flower Doodledallion set ( a pre-coloured yellow flower ), alcohol inks on the scalloped square. I also used an Ornate Butterfly.  Emma loves my "fancy" cards and wants to own every one I make - " Can I have it Mom? Can I have it - Please?"  LOL I have put this one back in my sample box... let's see how long it takes her to realize I "scooped" it ;)  ( I'll give it back  :)  )

Emma asked for Stickles for her  9th birthday and also did some damage at the LSS with her birthday money.. she has amassed quite a collection of arts & crafts supplies and I made her a watercolour journal.  We are going to work on our Art Journals this summer.  We have watercolours, pastels, watercolour crayons... and gel mediums and gesso  ( black, white and clear ) we should have fun!  She has been colouring and glittering up the butterflies as well... they look fabulous!

Card Ornate Butterfly

Hi all!  ...just posting some cards I have been working on :) .. another one tomorrow.   I have been totally obsessed these critters lately!

I  printed (laser print on thin card) the digi sheet from the Ornate Cut-Out Butterfly set and coloured and cut the largest butterfly on the sheet.  I did alot of playing and experimenting LOL!  First, I coloured with a blue Neocolor II water soluble crayon ( just on the inner edge of wings ) and blended out with a waterbrush.  I carefully used my glue pen  on the coloured areas of the wings.  I glittered with Glamour Dust.  Now here is where I a bit crazy!...  I got my little quilt/craft iron and melted bees wax pellets all over the butterfly and evened it out with a blast of my heat tool, it gave a neat translucency to the wings and toned the glitter down a bit ( it also moved the glitter into the black oops.. but I still like the look.. next time I'll coat it with UTEE instead ).  The wax also stiffened the wings a bit so they stay in their fluttering position ;)

The background is alcohol inks and  I used EK Success punches. This is another alcohol inked background I had made a while ago and now I WISH I would have wrote down what colours I used! LOL
