A "Spring Card" & Free Cutting Files :)

Hi All!

Taxes all done! Woohoo!  I have added some free cutting files to the STORE at THIS LINK.  One of them is a freebie down below :)

I've been stencil happy lately!  There is so much you can do with them.... including NOT using them as a stencil LOL...

For this card I used the stencil cutting file Doily Mandala 1 as a "cardfront".

Doily Mandala 1 Stencil & Mask
I created a Spring Card Template cutting file to make this card. Just click the image below to get the download :)

Spring Card Template Cutting File
FREE!

The cutting file has dashed score lines that help to crease in the appropriate parts of the card.  There are also mats for the base that cut out.  I embossed the mats and inked with Bundled Sage distress inks.  The mats for the spring card base are also inked and embossed.  The flowers  are from the Happy Flowers Digi Set and were coloured with  NeoColor II watercolor crayons and a water brush.   The butterfly is Ornate Butterfly Digi that was also coloured with NeoColor II's and glittered.

NOTE: To use the card template you don't need a cutting machine! The free Spring Card template also contains a PDF file that will print to your printer.  Print on the wrong side of your card stock or use as a guide.

To fold the card, crease on the dashed fold lines.  Fold like below :)

TIP:  You can size the card template to any size.  It is set currently for 5" wide and it would fit any round cardfront or diamond front between 5 and 5 1/2" in diameter.

Have a great day!

ATC for Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog

Hi All!

I am in the middle of my taxes.... papers everywhere!  I managed to find a small un-taxcluttered space in my studio to make an ATC for the Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog that Fred She Said is sponsoring this month.  The theme is ATC's or Fat Pages.   Love ATC's!  Thanks CCCB for letting us guest contribute :)

This one has a lot of techniques going on and I'd love to explain them with a tutorial but that will have to wait until my tax mess is done and gone LOL.

I'll try to briefly explain what I did :)  I laser printed the Corner Peony digital stamp onto dry-wax deli paper ( which required careful tweaking of taping the deli paper to cardstock so it would load properly in the printer ).  I loosely cut the peony out. The background was made using a magic stamp foam that was heated and pressed into an embossing folder.  I applied Picked Raspberry and Mowed Lawn  distress inks to the magic stamp and huffed and pressed into my ATC cardstock then sprayed with a pearlized mist until the ink started to move then let dry.  I collaged the peony that is on deli paper onto the ATC with gel medium then let dry.  The Peony is very translucent and you can't see the cut edges!  ... and colouring with Prismacolor pencils gave good opaque coverage.  I also shaded with a dark umber colored pencil around the flower and did my blending with a Prismacolor blending Marker.  I coloured a fussy cut Ornate Butterfly, added pearls and  lace trim and pearl trim to the bottom of the card and distressed the edges of the ATC with Walnut Stain distress ink.

A nice diversion from taxes!  ...  now I want to make more LOL

HI All!  I have added some new things to the store ;)

Donna of Bearly Mine has created another beautiful paper set!  Floral Surprise using various florals from Fred She Said:

Floral Surprise Paper Set

I have been making cutting file stencils.  I have uploaded 2 but have more on the way.

Doily Mandala 1  Stencil/Mask Cutting Files

I am having way too much fun with them.  I cut the stencils on transparency film and have used them with distress inks, sprays, and with my Gelli Plate with acrylic paints.  I'll have some projects soon.

Happy Flowers & Sentiments

Hey all!

..new stuff :)

I had a request for Fred's Flowers without black outlines.. I hope this will work :)  I made some Happy Flowers... in happy, bright rainbow colours! .. and some flower pots you can add your flowers to.

... and some digi flowers and pots too :)

... and some Uplifting Sentiments ( 22 in all!)

I am also working on some  digital cutting file stencils & masks.  The chevron pattern on the above card is a stencil I made that was sponged over with distress inks onto CS.  I'll be sharing the stencil soon once I get it converted to the various formats ;)  I kind of went stencil creation happy in anticipation of a Gelli Plate I ordered ( that is backordered at Curry's ack!).  I was excited for it's arrival and when it didn't come, I was sad... so I made my own out of Knox gelatin.  Just google "gelatin plate recipe" and you will find tons of resources :)  Emma and I had a blast playing with our homemade plate and acrylic paints.  They say the gelatin plate might last for a few weeks in the fridge... hopefully my Gelli Plate will arrive before it goes bad.  I'll have to fire up the camera and share some of the crazy prints we made.

I hope to have new designs soon.  I thank my Design Team and customers for their patience!  It has been a challenging new year full of bumps and hurdles and grieving and even celebrating!

Sadly, we lost my husband's dear Mum and our kids' wonderful Nanna, Lorrie on January 16th the day after the DT call went out.  At the time we had just started renovation chaos, and had to scramble to make room for out of town family!   Currently, bedrooms have been displaced in our wee 1100 sq foot home to make room for new flooring and paint upstairs.   I  have my son's mattress in the only floor area in my studio/office.  There are boxes, furniture, and junk everywhere - not many places to move LOL.  My husband and I have been basically unemployed for the past few months, so seeing each others faces so much ( in this mess?), well you know... it has been challenging LOL.  Blessedly and miraculously, we have managed to financially stay afloat :)  I am slowly getting a few days of work here and there as the Teachers work dispute is sort of settling down.  Dave & I were just blessed with another great nephew this week!  Congrats Jay and Tasha & big brother Kolten!

OK ... I am off to get my new DT members settled in and get some stuff in the store!  Have a wonderful day!

LAST CHANCE DT CALL!... and a CARD

Hi all!  Just a post to remind you that Fred She Said is having a DT CALL.  I will accept submissions until Monday Feb 11  Midnight EST.

And to help take up some space on this sparse post LOL   here is a card I put together today.

I laser printed an Ornate Butterfly onto transparency film, coloured with Bic Mark It markers and added stickles and a heart brad.  The embossed background has a skiff of light green paint applied with a brayer.  I was testing out some sentiments for a set that will be coming out very soon :)

We were cleaning out my son's room to clear the way for new laminate flooring when I happened upon a tray of 20 or so bottles of acrylic paint!.. I totally forgot about them!  Oh my, add that to my bulging drawer of 60? bottles of acrylic paint... you might be seeing more paint on my cards :O LOL

Hi all, it's that time yup!  Time for a Blog Hop.... please come have some fun with us!  Please,  also check below for a 25% SALE COUPON :)  :)

Fred She Said is having a Ground Hog Day Blog Hop.  Tracey, from Fred She Said hails from Wiarton, Ontario, Canada, home of Wiarton Willie, the albino ground hog.  Every February 2nd, Willie emerges from his den to predict whether or not we will have an early Spring.  If he sees his shadow, he will become frightened and scurry back into his den, hailing 6 more weeks of winter.  If he does not see his shadow, he will declare an EARLY SPRING woohoo!  Tracey has asked the Fred She Said DT to make a card - either a "wintery" card ( if they think Willie will predict  a LATE SPRING ) or a "Flowery or Spring" card ( if they think he will predict an EARLY SPRING ).

Your job, dear blog hopper, is to hop along and TALLY up how many DT thought it will be an EARLY SPRING and how many predict a LATE SPRING.   Instructions on how to enter will be posted on the last stop at the FSS CHALLENGE BLOG.  Please leave some love on the DT's posts; they love to hear from you ;)  Please enter by Friday February 8th,  Midnight EST.

HERE IS MY PREDICTION:

OK I am so hopeful.  I predict that Willie will predict an EARLY SPRING!  Today it has been snowing and blowing like crazy!   I so want this over! LOL  Today's card uses the Tulip Bouquet ( from Pre-Coloured Set)  and some distress inks for sponging.  The background is a free printable dictionary page from The Vintage Moth, that I white washed with white paint and added black distress to the edges.

So that was EARLY SPRING for me!  Tally it up :)  Now please go to Michelle's blog to continue your journey!

Here is the blog hop list in case you lose your way!

SALE! & The Cards that Christmas Forgot "Parade"

Hi all!  Happy New Year!   I had a request from a DT to share Christmas cards that didn't make it to our blogs.  We all get so busy during the holidays and sometimes our poor creations don't get shared before they get mailed LOL  I actually have a couple I never posted but luckily got photos of before I gave them to their recipients.   So I emailed "the girls" and this Parade was born. :)

The theme was  " The Cards that Christmas Forgot " LOL  ... any Christmas cards, Winter cards or cards made with "Christmas/Winter" products.

CARD - Fancy Doily Snowflake Blue

Happy Monday!  Here's a card made with Fancy Doily Snowflake and SnowFlake Paper Pricking Pattern.  Snowflake was laser printed on transparency film, coloured with permanent Bic  Mark It markers and glittered with Glamour Dust.  Gems are iridescent.. I love how they change colours in the light :)

I bought a new Magnifier Lamp a couple of weeks ago as my eyes are just not focusing anymore or for very long due to my Fuch's - can't see through either pair of my glasses and will be a few months before I get in to see my optometrist.  I don't want to be a whiny baby BUT, if any of you have trouble seeing to craft, a magnifying lamp can make a BIG DIFFERENCE when you are poking holes! LOL  ... a big help when colouring too.  I think it's my new favourite crafting tool :)

Have a great week!

Little Fat Santa Speed Paint

Hey all!  How is the Christmas shopping going?  eeek, don't ask me!

Just a speed paint coloring demo using Corel Painter, a Wacom tablet and "Little Fat Santa" .  The only brushes I used were a Basic Round to color ( from the Tinting brushes) and a Grainy Water for blending ( Blenders category) .. and an Eraser LOL.

Yes, I misspelled a word... can you find it? LOL I am trying to brush up on my video editing skills... forgot so much and what I did know - it was not ALOT!   Next time I'll make a speed paint video a bit more speedier ;)

I'll be back in a bit... have a few new cards to upload :)  Have a great weekend!

A Little Fat Santa & a pretty FRAME!

Hi all!

I just added a couple of things to the STORE.

I wanted a simple little gnomish Santa to add to some cards I was making.  I just want to squeeze his cheeks and pull his beard LOL!

Little Fat Santa ( DIGI OR COL SET)

... and I wanted a CUT FILE frame for my Pointy Poinsettia Flower!  So I made 2 versions.

The frame used Wrought Iron Square Frame version 2 and  was cut from white card stock.   The main part of the frame was glue-sprayed and sprinkled with Rock Candy dry glitter before it was adhered to the base frame.  The flower is from the Pointy Poinsettia Flowers.    I am thinking I will be using the Wrought Iron Frame A LOT with my butterflies and flowers in the future  ;) ... yes I am giddy with anticipation!   ..... just have to get through "Christmas card making season"  first! LOL

Have a great day!
